Bone Density

A bone densitometry is an x-ray test used to assess the density in your bones. We perform only the 2 site bone densitometry as recommended by the World Health Organization. We will measure the density of the bone in your lumbar spine and hip (femur). This can help diagnose osteoporosis, check how well treatment for osteoporosis is working and assess your risk for bone fractures. Bone densitometry is a quick, easy and painless test.

What types of diagnostic services are typically offered at a diagnostic clinic?

Diagnostic clinics typically offer a variety of imaging services essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. These include X-ray imaging for skeletal and chest examinations, mammography for breast cancer screening, ultrasound imaging for a range of applications including pregnancy, abdominal, and vascular assessments, and participation in specialized programs like the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP). Each service utilizes state-of-the-art technology to ensure clear, precise imaging results.

Preparation for a diagnostic imaging appointment can vary depending on the type of test being performed. For some services like X-rays, no special preparation is usually required. However, for others like ultrasounds, you might need to follow specific instructions such as fasting for a certain period or ensuring a full bladder for better visibility. It's important to follow the guidelines provided by the clinic at the time of booking your appointment to ensure the most accurate results. If you have any concerns or questions about your specific preparation needs, please contact our clinic for detailed instructions.

Yes, most diagnostic imaging services, including those offered at our clinic, require a referral from a healthcare provider. This referral ensures that the diagnostic test is appropriate for your symptoms or health concerns and helps our radiologists understand the context of your health needs. Once you have a referral, you can contact our clinic to schedule your appointment. Our team will guide you through the process and provide any necessary information about the services we offer.
